About

Cameron Escovedo, hailing from a long line of musicians (many of them also drummers) grew up surrounded by music. Having been raised in the music industry by his father and close family, Cameron has played music for many years, but decided he wanted a career in music during high school where he was a big part of the music program all 4 years and graduated with honors receiving the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.

During Cameron's senior year, he started a small jazz band “Mystery” with other musicians from his class. For a year and a half, Mystery played at numerous venues all over the East Bay, performing a variety of standards and originals in the styles of Latin, Jazz, and Funk.

After graduating Cameron moved to Santa Cruz to pursue a degree in music from Cabrillo College. He wasted no time in auditioning and playing in most of the ensembles at the college, and now plays in all of the advanced groups and was even hired by 4 different local vocal jazz groups (including his own school) to be part of their rhythm section for jazz festivals around the west coast.

Over the last couple of years, Cameron has been hired to play for a variety of musical groups, orchestras, concert bands, musical theatre productions, and vocal groups. This includes Il Dolce Suono, Cabrillo's student run vocal ensemble, with whom he performed with at the ACDA in Santa Barbara (the first student governed choir to perform at any ACDA) where he got to work directly with Emmy winning composer John Wineglass.

Most recently, Cameron has started playing with local band, The Inciters, touring constantly up and down the coast, as well as the Pacific North West region, recording, and touring Europe twice in the last two years. In his free time, he gives private lessons and clinics at a local after school music program “Be Natural Music”
