Having grown up with musicians for parents, Am3rica’s path seems to have been predetermined from the start. “I grew up reading music, before I knew how to read a single word.”

At the age of 14; he began studying drums under Gary Moffatt of .38 Special, while joining local youth orchestras and various church bands in the area. Within 2 years, Am3rica would become one of the most sought after drummers in the area, playing for multiple artists and bands across central Florida, as well as teaching 20 hours a week.

Over the next 15 years, Am3rica experimented with every genre, playing for more than 30 artists and bands, thus helping him develop his own unique blend of modern and traditional playing styles, allowing him to become a musical chameleon known for getting the job done.

In the summer of 2017, Am3rica was asked to join the Rusty Wright Band, and bring that original style of his to the blues.

“My first gig was in a jazz quartet, using only brushes. - I’ll be honest; as a 14 year old I hated it. As a 24 year old, I embraced it. As a 34 year old, I love it. Those early days forced me to listen, and my style is a direct result of that first gig.”

Am3rica uses the 8A, John Blackwell signature, and yellow jacket throw models.
