Rick Leclerc was born and raised in southern Ontario Canada. Growing up it was obvious, his musical instrument of choice would be drums, banging out rhythms on anything that sounded like drums . Like a lot of teenage drummers Rick was inspired by the rock sounds and styles of Ringo Starr, John Bonham and Neil Peart .

As a young man he started playing the local club scene with bands and was starting to prove himself as an up and coming player. Eventually Rick headed out west where he settled and currently resides in Calgary Alberta. With that came big changes and opportunities to stretch his musical pallet. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro and Bill Bruford . With that … jazz, funk, fusion, R&B and soul became part of his playing arsenal . Finding himself in demand with local recording artists, Rick turned his focus to country music . Playing with many emerging artists, recording demos and touring across Canada playing big festival stages and theater shows became the norm .

He has received many Canadian Country Music Association “Drummer of the Year” nominations.
